Uganda Mission Update

Well, it’s official, ‘Unreached4K’ is now an Incorporated NGO (Non-Government Organization) of Uganda. This will allow us to purchase land, establish health clinics, create sustainable businesses to provide income for the churches and their leaders, and carry out various ministries that will be protected by the laws of Uganda. Through God’s divine intervention, we had a dear friend, Brother Innocent Byaruhanga, the head of SASCU Orphanage in Luwero, take care of all the paperwork and legalities for this undertaking which took less than a week…a true miracle indeed.

As with nearly all of our projects that we attempt over 8,000 miles away in Uganda, problems emerge: communication difficulties arise, the rainy season washes out the roads and slows down construction, and what should take 2 months takes twice as long. We began constructing a new church building in December for the ‘Bembe Baptist Church’ congregation and it is nearly finished…after more than 4 months, Praise the Lord! Brother Julius, one of our Ugandan ministers, is also a top-notch builder who has been leading this undertaking and working nearly every day, with his team of builders, to make sure this church is a beautiful meeting place for the Bembe congregation, as well as visitors from the village. We had originally planned to construct a wooden building much like Cornerstone but discovered that it is much more efficient to construct the church out of bricks with a smooth stucco covering: they are much stronger and will last a lifetime. Thanks to donors like you, ‘Bembe Baptist Church’ is nearly finished and ready to be occupied. In the near future, probably by mid-summer, we will be seeking to purchase land and construct a permanent church building for Pastor Badru’s group of about 20 believers, many of whom are former Muslims, who are presently meeting in a rented facility in a village southwest of Bombo town. Badru is a Nubian and former Muslim who knows how to reach his village for Jesus…’friendship evangelism.’ When they begin to threaten him or his family, he calmly shares with them how the Lord Jesus changed his life and that He can do the same for them. We are praying that the Lord will supply the funds to purchase land and construct a permanent church building for them in this Muslim village.

Pastor Geoffrey Mbabazi is now leading ‘Cornerstone Baptist Church,’ a graduate of Uganda Baptist Seminary in Jinja, and is meeting with his church elders and leaders nearly every day for Bible Study, Discipleship, Leadership Meetings, Community Outreach and Evangelism, Prayer Meetings, and Sunday Worship. The Bembe Baptist Church members, as well as Pastor Badru’s small group from their village, travel to Cornerstone every Monday and Thursday for Bible Study and Discipleship, because knowing the word of God is one of our top priorities.

SASCU Orphanage

‘Save Street Children Uganda’ (SASCU), is an orphanage with over 80 children that we began supporting after our mission trip in February. It was previously located in the capital city of Kampala but after their lease ran out, they had to relocate to an 81-acre farm just about an hour north of Bombo, Uganda where we are seeking to reach the Nubians for Jesus. They are facing two main difficulties at the moment: they lost much of their financial support during COVID and now that they have a farm with very little knowledge of how to grow crops and take care of their farm animals; cattle, pigs, goats, and chickens. That’s where our board member Brother Ed Young comes in. He is an expert in cattle and farm animals of all types as well as an experienced farmer/gardener. For the first couple of weeks in April, Brother Innocent Byaruhanga had to make a trip to the United States to complete and sign several legal documents for his fund-raising efforts and while he was in the U.S., he made a trip to Mackville, Kentucky and spent 2 weeks with Brother Ed who has been helping teach him about running a farm and growing crops as well as assisting him in raising funds by visiting area churches and special gatherings. Please pray that the Lord will provide for the needs of these children and this ministry to ‘the least of these.’

Ukraine Mission Update

Headlines read, “Ukraine’s Zelenskyy signs new army draft law to boost conscription, law obliges men to update their draft data, increases payments to volunteers and adds new punishments for draft dodging.” The Ukrainian government is desperately seeking more fighting men in this war against Russia so the national and local laws have been changing from day to day. According to Pastor Paul Dudka, men aged 18-60 are restricted form traveling within 5 kilometers of the border of Romania, so our trip to Ukraine that was scheduled for April 22 had to be cancelled. Brother Joe Nail stays in touch with Pastor Paul nearly every week on Zoom to encourage him and pray for him, his family, his ministry, and his nation. Pastor Paul is still able to carry out limited ministry, specifically shepherding his church, ‘Revival Baptist Church,’ ministry in the mountains where his latest mission station/church is located, carrying out his Christian radio broadcasts, and his upcoming ‘kiddo camps’ (He will have 4, week-long, camps this summer in the mountain villages where he will have games, food, care packages, and most importantly, share the Gospel of Jesus Christ). Please continue to pray for Pastor Paul and the nation of Ukraine during this time of war.
