December 2021 Newsletter
We are excited to introduce you to the newest member of the Kateregga family, ‘Abundance.’ She was born Tuesday, November 23 to Karim and Brenda and is healthy and blessed. We are all so thankful to the Lord for a safe and healthy delivery, Praise the Lord!
Well, another delay for our visit to Bombo, Uganda…we were all ready to fly out on Monday, November 15 but after we received our required Covid tests 72 hours before our flight, I (Grant) tested positive. Though it was very disappointing, it will not stop God’s work among the Nubians of Bombo. Thanks to your donations, we have met our goal to purchase 2 acres of land in the village of Sambwe, construct a church building for the Sambwe fellowship that has been meeting in a rented facility, and dig a ‘bore hole,’ a water well, for the village.
The reason for purchasing 2 acres of land is for a future project, possibly next summer, of constructing a Christian school for the village of Sambwe. If we are going to reach the Nubians with the Gospel, 38,000 Muslims created in the very image of God, we must do two things: show them the love of Christ by providing them with fresh drinking water from water wells and providing their children with a quality education AND then they will listen to us when we tell them of the Good News of Jesus. Show and tell, that’s what Pastor Karim calls friendship evangelism…” that’s how you reach the Nubians.” To read more about this unreached people group, visit:
On Sunday, October 17th Pastor Karim hosted a Youth Retreat entitled, ‘Living with Purpose.’ Dozens of young people from the Bunyaga Village came to hear the word of God, enjoy wonderful food (rice, matoke, meat, and sodas) and fellowship with one another. Since the public schools have been closed for the past 21 months due to the pandemic, many young people in these small villages have lost hope, lost friends, and lost direction. This retreat helped them to realize that their only hope is in Jesus, only He can restore lives and give purpose and direction.
Another exciting event took place Sunday, October 24th, a Marriage Retreat for couples in the Bunyaga Village. Twelve couples came to hear what the word of God says about marriage between a husband and wife and to be strengthened in their relationships. Pastor Karim and Brenda demonstrated what a Christian marriage should look like and taught them from Ephesians 5:22-27, “Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. 25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.” (ESV)
